Introduction:

Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the planning, design, construction operation and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil Engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Municipal or Urban Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Materials Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Surveying, Irrigation Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering and Construction Engineering. Civil Engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal to federal levels, and in the private sector from individual homeowner’s s to international companies.

Job Opportunities for Civil Engineering Graduates:
As the civil engineering is the most applied, practical and versatile technology in engineering field, therefore there are plenty of job opportunities are available for the civil engineering graduates.
The major employers of civil engineers in government sector are PWD, Local Government & Rural Development, Central Design Office, Planning & Development Department, Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority(ERRA), SERRA, Mirpur Development Authority, Perk Development Authority, KDA and Works Departments of Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir,  Capital Development Authority Islamabad,  National Highway Authority, Water and Power Development Authority ,National Logistic Cell, Frontier Works Organization, Research and Development Organizations, Military Lands and Cantonments, Project Management Unit, Punjab Urban Unit, Water and Sanitation Authority, Communication and Works Department, Irrigation Department, Pakistan Railways in Pakistan.
