HEC and Pink Ribbon Youth Awareness Programme 2021
Introduction
Under the umbrella of HEC, MUST organize the PINK RIBBON: Youth Awareness Programme regarding Breast Cancer. In which they conducted 2 days schedule (28th-29th Oct, 2021) regarding Breast Cancer awareness among university student despite of gender, they provide symptoms and precaution which female can take to prevent.
Following activities perform in certain days.
Inaugural session was conducted outside Old Sciences Building with a walk in which Vice Chancellor took part and showed his personal interest regarding this issue, inspite of that all faculty of Education department were there with their Chairperson. Students and faculty of other departments showed much positive response and took part in this walk, ensure that this type of issue should raise and provide awareness about them.
After the walk PINK RIBBON formation were made to initiate the campaign, and the volunteers placed their informational desk on different spots of university, in which old sciences building, outside university cafeteria, main campus ground and home economics department included.
To make this campaign more interesting our volunteers made selfie frame, pink ribbon for arms and literature with pictorial identification to enlighten the youth. Our volunteers approach to every student provides them necessary knowledge and gives them handouts for further information.
On 2nd day of the event walk was conducted in the university in which male and female both participated enthusiastically. After the walk MIPUR UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY conducted a seminar in which Dr Hina Zubair came up with presentation and provide awareness among students regarding the symptoms of breast cancer and how to have self-examination. After her presentation DR ZAHIDA Qasim shared her experience with the female students and faculty members .she took the queries from the audience side .At the end of the seminar all the distinguish guests along with focal person, chairperson of DEPARTMENT OF EDUACTION and DSA of M.U.S.T distributed the appreciation certificates among the volunteers.
Education Department of Mirpur University organised One-day seminar on Sustainable Development Goals and our Responsibility
Brig. (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M) Vice Chancellor Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur graced One- day seminar on “Sustainable Development Goals and our Responsibility” organized by the department of Education in the Hall of Mechanical Engineering on Wednesday, July 06, 2022 at 10:00 hrs in which the scholars of M.Phil. Education session 21-23 presented 17 global goals.
Prof.Dr Tehseen Ghous, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Khuram Pervez, Chairpersons Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Naseem Akhtar, Director Graduate Placement Bureau, faculty members and Students of the department participated in the Seminar.
Brigadier Younis Javed appreciated the decorum maintained and the preparations done by the students. He emphasized the need of series of awareness seminars on SDGs to equip the students with meeting the challenges and fulfilling the commitments to SDGs. He also shared the achievement of MUST on achieving 1st position in the AJK on Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking on the SDGs.
The honorable Vice Chancellor & the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities distributed certificates to the participants. The Dean FSSH presented shield to the worthy Vice Chancellor. The Coordinator dept of Education Dr. Saira Farooq Shah thanked the worthy Vice Chancellor and the Dean FSSH for sparing their precious time for listening to the efforts of the students and providing encouraging feedback.
The seminar continued till 2 pm and Dr Khurrum Pervaiz Chairperson, Dept of Mechanical Engineering also presented initiatives taken to promote Clean Energy, and Responsible Consumption SDG 7 and 12 in MUST.
Two day Training workshop : Role of Teacher Education Programs In Promoting Education for Sustainable Development 28th and 29th July 2022.
Two Day workshop was arranged for the capacity building of the prospective teachers. 80 students from the Govt. college of Education Afzalpur were invited to benefit from the workshop. The Resource persons included Dr. Khushbakht Hina , associate Professor, Director QEC NUML Islamabad, Dr Saira Farooq Shah, sand Mr. Munawwar Hussain from the Host Institution. The participants were given certificated at the culmination of the workshop.
